Our history

A growing company that was almost a bit “clichéd” founded in a garage in the very heart of Sweden, Gothenburg. Since its inception in 2009, Wall-it has been run as a family business, which has contributed to our unique and exciting history.

Started with a simple but brilliant idea.

We rewind to 2009. A year when the world was on the threshold of a new era. Smartphones began to replace computers and social media changed the way we communicated. It was a time when ideas became products. In the midst of all this, Patrick Nyman took a chance. A simple idea became a reality – and Wall-it was founded.

Practical reflection becomes an invention.

Patrick often thought about the little things that got in the way of his daily work. One day, while cleaning the toilet, he realized a recurring annoyance – the toilet brush holder was always in the way when he was mopping the floor, and a solution was needed!

To realize his idea, Patrick turned to his grandfather, Rune Karlsson – a skilled mechanical engineer with 65 years of experience from SKF. Together they began to take the first steps towards a solution that, in their eyes, would change the everyday lives of many more people.

Sketch. Patent. Prototype.

The time had come! On February 1, 2010, the patent application was submitted - and it was soon approved. Shortly thereafter, the first prototype was produced. The ambition was clear: a practical solution was not enough - it should also be stylish and fit in as a natural part of the bathroom interior.

Out on the market.

Thanks to Rune's skill, product after product was handmade in his small garage and after many hours of hard work, sales were finally able to pick up. But reaching the right target group was a bigger challenge back then, in early 2010. Digital marketing was not as obvious as it is today. Despite that, they managed to reach out through creative methods such as their own website, their own stand and classic advertisements.

Expansion.

After selling several hundred products, it was clear that there was interest. It was time to expand the range, and Patrick got to work right away. He started thinking about more everyday problems that could be solved in the same way – with smart, stylish products that mount on the wall.

Soon the ideas had taken shape, and the original range had grown to five well-thought-out and functional products.

What happened then?

Despite a fantastic start with thousands of satisfied customers, everyday life began to catch up.
With a full-time job, small children and other family reasons, it became increasingly difficult to keep up. Finally, the difficult decision was made to pause Wall-it – it was simply not possible to continue the business fully at that time.

Comeback!

With rock-solid confidence in our product, we have naturally chosen to enter the market again. This time with sky-high goals and ambitions! With a completely new team consisting of Patrick Nyman, Elias Forsling and Gabriel Ungesson, we want to complete what was once started in 2009.

Rune Karlsson.

A large part of our work at Wall-it is dedicated to honoring the memory of Rune Karlsson, whom we tragically lost in 2024. Rune was a master at everything he did – meticulous, skilled and always helpful. But what really made him special was the love and warmth he showed his family. As a fiancé, grandfather and great-grandfather, he always put his loved ones first.

We miss him deeply and are forever grateful for everything he has done and everything he has meant. Thank you Rune.
